On Thursday December 28th, 2017, Port Gibson Fire Department was dispatched to a working garage fire (Box 100 alarm). When officers arrived on scene, they found a garage fully engulfed in flames with multiple exposures. Crews from Port Gibson went right to work to contain and extinguish the blaze. Crews from Newark and Palmyra were brought in for water and manpower. A huge thank you to members of the Newark FD, Palmyra, FD, Car 1 - Ontario County, Truck 35, NYS Police, and NYS DOT for getting roads safe to drive on again. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
On Wednesday December 20th, 2017 at 3:42am, Port Gibson Fire Department was called to assist East Palmyra on a confirmed structure fire on Hogback Hill Road. Port Gibson responded with several firefighters and 2231. When officers arrived on scene, they found a fully engulfed house fire. Crews went right to work to extinguish the blaze. Several departments were dispatched to the scene to bring water. All the residents of the house made it out safely. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
